Bio
Tonya Rivens is an award winning veteran Journalist in Radio, ten years in television and is a feature writer for a monthly publication. Tonya received the 2023 National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) Angelo B. Henderson Community Service Award, 2021-2022 Chan Zuckerberg Grant from NABJ and is a 2021-2022 North Carolina Equity Fellow. She has a B.A. in Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and M.S. in Communications from Syracuse University.
Rivens enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with her family. She is the Vice President-Broadcast for the Charlotte Area Association of Black Journalists (CAABJ), Board member for Black Women in Radio, President of Gospel Industry Network (Charlotte Chapter), Member of Central Piedmont Community College Technology Advisory Board, Advisory Board member for State Employees Credit Union and member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Tonya is a member of Hunters Chapel UMC, where she is a Lay Leader.
